16-point half dooms WVU again
The West Virginia Mountaineers collapsed once more against No. 18 Notre Dame, relenting an 18-4 second-half run before succumbing, 71-44. The Mountaineers (17-10 overall; 7-8 BIG EAST) shot 31.5-percent (17-for-54), while the home team converted 27-of-44 (61.4-percent) field goals.
The Fighting Irish (20-8 overall; 12-3 BIG EAST) held the Mountaineers to 16 points earlier this season. That stymie came in the first half of a 55-51 victory in Morgantown on February 8. They did it again Wednesday, outscoring the Mountaineers 41-16 in the final 20 minutes.
