West Virginia put together its best defensive performance of the season Saturday against Kansas, and although the Jayhawks aren't necessarily known to set the world on fire on offense, it's a strong finish for a Mountaineer defense that has had its fair share of ups and downs this season.

It's been a season of transition on the defensive side of the ball for West Virginia as the Mountaineers have played a number of new faces and moved to a new 3-4 scheme under defensive coordinator Joe DeForest after over a decade in Jeff Casteel's 3-3-5 look.
