With the season finally over one can't help but walk away from the mess that was the 2012 football season and ask, what just happened? In no way can one offer up any type of simple answer nor will there be an effort to make excuses for the issues we all witness. What we will try to do is explain why this Mountaineer football team might have been overrated but also why they didn't come close to meeting expectations. Though I do expect to raise more questions than answers.

It is hard to argue that no matter the reasoning that this season has fallen anything short of disappointing. There were very few who have said the Mountaineers would have ended the season 7-6, even in a worst case scenario.
