Spring Practice Report Day 13

The Mountaineers took the field for spring practice No. 13 and it was much of the same for the 30-minute period open to media members as West Virginia prepares for the annual Gold Blue Game.

Just as it's been for the entire spring, the opening period was focused on special teams with the Mountaineers aligning in punt formations in their own end zone. Both Corey Smith and Mike Molinari delivered some booming punts from their own end in the face of the rush, but it was Smith who took home the punt of the day on a sailing kick that drifted return man Tavon Austin at least 15-yards backwards to field the ball.

In addition to Austin, it was true freshman Jordan Thompson that rotated fielding the punts and out of all the observed kicks there were no shanks or drops on the end of the return men.
