Thompson takes advantage of spring stage

Jordan Thompson ran a short route near the goal line that naturally took him to the outside and the defender covering him cheated up to pursue the scrambling Geno Smith, that's when the ball was tossed to the wide open freshman marking the first touchdown of his West Virginia career.

"It felt good because I just got the first one out of the way … just many more to come," he said.

Something that could be in the future for the early enrollee after wrapping up his first Gold-Blue game with a team-leading eight catches for 66 yards and a touchdown. He came into the game talking about making a name for himself as it was the first chance for fans to get a glimpse of his abilities, and he did just that showing a nice display of speed and shiftiness.
