Silvestro's interest 'up' for WVU

Interested in West Virginia to start with, Alex Silvestro's appeal for the Mountaineers "has probably gone up" since visiting Morgantown over the holiday weekend.

Silvestro played the final regular season game for his Paulsboro (N.J.) High School on Thanksgiving Day, arrived in Morgantown on Saturday morning at 3, met lead recruiter Herb Hand later in the day and then took in WVU's loss to South Florida.

Having fought Sunday traffic on the way home with the rest of the post-Thanksgiving travelers, Silvestro, father Alex Sr., mother Debbie and brother Mike arrived to their South Jersey home at 6 p.m., tired but pleased with their official look at the school.

Silvestro, a 2-star tight end-linebacker, had made his original visit to Milan Puskar Stadium last summer, but then came to town for an official. He expects to go to Rutgers on Dec. 9.
