Following the future: Week 5
Miami (FL.) Coral Reef (3-2) fell 14-3 to undefeated Coral Gables. West Virginia commit Jacob McCrary ended the game with 5 receptions for 61 yards. That was more than the rest of his team combined in both categories. McCrary and Coral Reef will try to rebound next Thursday, October 3rd with a game at Palmetto.
Springfield (OH.) (0-4) and Linebacker Davonte James lost last Saturday to Troy 21-20. The Wildcats will try to bounce back with a road game against Xenia on Friday night.
Morgantown (WV) High School (4-1) fell to instate Rival Martinsburg 28-21. Morgantown's turnovers were too much to over come. WVU commit Offensive lineman Amarii Brown helped open up holes in the Martinsburg defense that lead to well over 200 yards rushing for Morgantown. The Mohigans are set to play at DuBois in Pennsylvania this coming Friday night.
Baltimore (MD) Dunbar (3-1) and Quarterback William Crest defeated Patterson 42-6. Dunbar will take on Maritime Academy next Friday night.
Elkton (MD) Eastern Christian Academy (4-1) defeated Maplewood out of Nashville Tennessee 60-20. The big win was a big bounce back for the Honey Badgers after receiving their first defeat of the season two weeks ago from St. Peters Prep of New Jersey. Offensive lineman Jamie Herr. ECA will continue their world tour on 10/12 when they travel to Cleveland to take on St. Ignatius.
Niles (OH) McKinley (3-2) won big against Beaver County 48-7. McKinley Offensive Lineman Josh Krok and his teammates shook off last weeks blow-out loss to Poland Seminary. McKinley will battle Canfield on Friday.
Oviedo (FL) High School (4-1) lost to Merritt Island in a battle of undefeated 21-3 . Defensive end Tyree Owens tried to rally the troops down 14-3 at halftime but with Oviedo losing their starting running back and quarterback, it was too much for Lions to overcome. Oviedo will try to erase last nights performance at home against University of Orlando next Friday evening.
Booker T Washington (FL) (5-0) continues its winning ways as they dispose of Monsignor Pace 49-7. Wide Receiver Lamar Parker only caught one pass for 20 yards but that catch did net BTW a touchdown. Booker T. quarterback and FSU commit Treon Harris was out for last night contest so that had a lot to do with the lack of production from Phillips. Next week Booker T will travel to Las Vegas to take on Bishop Gorman for a game that will be televised on ESPNU.
Avon (OH) High School (5-0) notched their 5th straight win of the season against Gafton Midview 45-28. In a close contest at halftime Offensive lineman Walter Rauterkus and Avon extended the lead to 17 by the beginning fourth quarter and never looked back. Avon will get another shot to keep their record free against Elyria Catholic Friday evening.
Monroeville (PA) Gateway (5-0) and Wide receiver Ricky Rogers stayed perfect with a hard fought win against Hempfield Area 22-16.Gateway travels to North Allegheny Friday to try and avenge last years only regular season loss.
Miami (FL) Jackson (3-1) blanked Miami Eidson 40-0. Wide receiver Jovon Durante had only one catch but it went for 66 yards and a touchdown. With a big lead early Jackson went to the running game early on as they only has 12 passing attempts all game. Jackson will have a big match-up with American Heritage on Friday evening .
Hutchinson (Kan.) Community College (2-2) had last week off but will gear up to take on Highland Community College on Saturday at 7 pm. Jaylon Myers and the Hutchinson secondary look to bounce back after giving up nearly 300 passing yards in their loss to Dodge City.
Woodland Hills (CA.) Pierce College (2-0) and Offensive lineman Just Scott were also off last week, preparing for a match-up with LA Southwest at 6 pm western time. So far Scott has not allowed a sack on his quarterback and has over half a dozen pancake blocks.
Iowa Falls (Iowa) Ellsworth Community College (2-2) evened up their record with a 14-10 victory over Iowa Central last Saturday. Linebacker Devante Averette had another monster game as he finished with 19 total tackles, including 17 solos ones. Hist state line continued with 5 tackles for loss, 2 sacks and a forced fumble. In four games the 6-foot 230-pound linebacker has 61 total tackles. Ellsworth will take on College of DuPage.
