Another transfer?

Former Vanderbilt defensive lineman Darien Bryant is planning to walk-on at West Virginia according to sources close to the situation.

Bryant graduated from Vanderbilt in May and would be eligible at West Virginia immediately with two years to play two. Sources close to Bryant indicate that he will join the program as a tight end, which is where he was recruited out of high school in 2011 as the No. 30 prospect at the position in the country.

At 6-foot-4, 230-pounds, Bryant considered West Virginia during his initial recruitment before selecting Vanderbilt where he was moved to the defensive line. Sources also have indicated that he planned to be in Morgantown today for the first team meeting.

Bryant is originally from Pickerington (Oh.) and played high school football at Pickerington North, where he collected scholarship offers from Vanderbilt, Michigan, Michigan State, Maryland, North Carolina, Nebraska, Kansas, Duke, Purdue, Illinois and Wake Forest, among others.

West Virginia has yet to officially announce the addition, but the potential to get back on the offensive side of the ball as well as his familiarity with the program were key factors in his decision making process, sources indicate.

West Virginia also is in the process of adding former Pittsburgh and Kentucky transfers Chris and Demitrious Davis, who also plan to walk on with the Mountaineers and would be redshirt sophomores this fall. Their eligibility for the fall is still in question.
