MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - (November 5, 2013) - West Virginia University Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Oliver Luck, in conjunction with the Big 12 Conference, today, has announced the 2014 football schedule. Six home dates and six road games comprise the upcoming slate.

"The 2014 football schedule has an excellent mix of home and away games that our fans will enjoy." Director of Athletics Oliver Luck said. "Starting the season against Alabama will provide excitement in the state all summer. A road game at Maryland is an easy drive for our fans before we welcome the likes of Oklahoma, Kansas, Baylor, TCU and Kansas State to Morgantown. Overall, with our non-conference schedule coupled with the rigors of the Big 12, every week will provide an exciting matchup."
The Mountaineers open the season on Aug. 30 against two-time national champion and current No. 1-ranked, Alabama, in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game at Atlanta's Georgia Dome. Other non-conference games are at home against Towson and a road game at Maryland.
West Virginia's Big 12 Conference home dates include Oklahoma (Sept. 27), Kansas (Oct. 4), Baylor (Oct. 18), TCU (Nov. 1) and Thursday night football returns to Milan Puskar Stadium on Nov. 20 against Kansas State. Road conference games include Texas Tech (Oct. 11), Oklahoma State (Oct. 25), Texas (Nov. 8) and Iowa State (Nov. 29).
"This definitely will be the most challenging schedule we have had since I have been here and probably in a long time," Holgorsen said. "Starting off with Alabama, the two-time national champions, will be a great opportunity for our football team. Having already gone through two years in the Big 12 and playing in all the venues in the league, our players and fans know first-hand how strong the league is and the excitement it presents."
The times and television schedule will be announced at a later time. All dates are subject to change.
