Hardy is a Mountaineer

West Virginia added a key piece to its recruiting class with the commitment of Scranton (Pa.) Lackawanna C.C. offensive lineman Isaiah Hardy.

Hardy, 6-foot-7, 330-pounds, received his first scholarship offer from West Virginia almost a year ago and the Mountaineers remained the consistent in his recruitment throughout leading to his pledge to the football program.

The junior college offensive lineman was visited by the coaching staff once the dead period ended and quickly set up an official visit to Morgantown in order to get a look at the campus and how he could fit into the football program.

That was enough for Hardy, who then made his commitment to the Mountaineers after mulling over the decision. A versatile offensive lineman with both size and athleticism, Hardy could play guard or tackle for West Virginia and fills a hole for the Mountaineers in the class at either spot depending on where he ends up when he arrives on campus.

But it is likely that Hardy begins his career at offensive tackle in Morgantown.

Special teams coordinator Mark Scott as well as offensive line coach Joe Wickline handled the recruitment of Hardy and his pledge gives the Mountaineers another pull from Lackawanna where the program has had a lot of success recruiting over the years.

The Rivals.com three-star prospect also was offered by Missouri as well as receiving interest from a long list of other schools including Pittsburgh, Central Florida and Connecticut. A native of New Jersey, Hardy has three years to play two at the next level.

Overall, Hardy is the third offensive line commitment for West Virginia in the class behind mid-term enrollee Ellisville (Miss.) Jones J.C. offensive lineman Kelby Wickline and prep product Buford (Ga.) offensive tackle Tyler Thurmond.

He is the 19th commitment for the Mountaineers in the 2017 recruiting cycle.
