Juwan Staten, Devin Williams and Jon Holton all scored in double figures to lead West Virginia to a 67-42 victory at Northern Kentucky on Sunday evening.

After a lackluster first half, West Virginia (8-1, 0-0) used its full court press defense to rattle Northern Kentucky (3-5, 0-0).
West Virginia used a 13-2 run to open the second half en route to the win. Jon Holton started the second half with a tip-in basket. Williams followed with an easy, fast break layup. Holton then got a layup himself before Daxter Miles dunked to put West Virginia ahead 28-17.
From there West Virginia simply continued extending its lead by pressuring Northern Kentucky and using defense to propel offense.
Staten had an old-fashion three-point play while Nate Adrian slammed home a dunk as part of many fast break baskets by the Mountaineers.
In total, West Virginia score 24 points off of 20 Northern Kentucky turnovers. By the end of the game, West Virginia put together its best defensive effort of the season, holding the Norse to just the 42 points. It's the lowest amount of points, West Virginia has allowed in a single game this year.

Throughout the first half, both teams truly struggled to score the basketball. At the under eight minute media timeout in the first half, the teams were just six of 31 from the field. The Mountaineers and Norse combined to turn the ball over 20 times in the first twenty minutes too.
West Virginia had a lead as large as eight points after an 11-3 run on Northern Kentucky. The run lasted about four minutes and started when Devin Williams hit a free throw. After Daxter Miles hit a three pointer and layup while Jaysean Paige converted a layup to go up 20-12.
