Each week WVSports.com Managing Editor Keenan Cummings provides a look at some of the things that stood out to him during the course of the game and on the stat sheet.

These observations are a snap shot of what unfolded in the West Virginia 20-17 win at TCU and what could happen next for the Mountaineers.

--This wasn’t a pretty game by any means, but it doesn’t matter if you win. West Virginia closed the season on a strong note beating TCU 20-17 in a game that the Mountaineers just hung tough and were able to win on the road for the second consecutive time. The win knocked TCU out of a bowl in the process and gives the Mountaineers a 5-4 overall edge in the series. West Virginia won this game with 244 total yards and 13 first downs in an impressive fashion with their defense.

--Those 13 first downs are the least amount in a win since the James Madison game this year.

--The defense again came to play in this one forcing two turnovers resulting in 10 points and holding TCU to 297 total yards. That was only 109 yards in the second half as the defense didn’t allow a single point in that frame. West Virginia had three turnovers themselves but it didn’t result in any points. I can’t say enough about the job that Vic Koenning has done.
