West Virginia beats Missouri for Alabama DE Eddie Watkins

Eddie Watkins was at one time committed to Georgia Tech, but after re-opening his recruitment in September, it came down to Missouri and West Virginia.

The rush end out of Evergreen (Ala.) Hillcrest took official visits to each, but it came down to who he felt he could trust most.

"I chose West Virginia over Missouri," said Watkins. "Arizona was in it too. My biggest reason for choosing West Virginia is that I trust coach Neal Brown and the coaching staff.

"I like what he’s trying todo and I love how the players are all on one page. They all want one thing; to win the Big 12."

Missouri received the final official visit, and Arizona hosted Watkins the weekend before that, but it was the visit to Morgantown that pushed the Mountaineers to the top.

"I knew West Virginia was the place for me after the official visit. I told the coaches about two weeks ago.

"I have been liking West Virginia since Bruce Irvin and Tavon Austin were there. I loved hanging out with the players when I was there and the vibe was like home.

"I'm very happy with my decision and I am ready to go win the Big 12."
