The Mountaineers join North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech and Rutgers as the programs that are sticking out the most to the Rivals.com three-star prospect. And each of those schools are on that list due to how consistent they have been in recruiting him.

“I love the programs and how they run things. They’re great academic schools and they’re all excited about how they would work with me on defense,” he said.

To date, Alston has visited North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia Tech but plans to check out the other three this spring with campus stops.

West Virginia is one of those schools that will be getting a visit and the program has made the cut because of the ties that the coaches have made. Defensive coordinator Jordan Lesley and outside linebackers coach Victor Cabral are the lead recruiters and they’ve made a good impression.

“They like me as a person and how I carry myself,” he said.

West Virginia assistants Jordan Lesley and Victor Cabral are servicing as the primary recruiters for the Mountaineers.

The Mountaineers are targeting Alston as an edge rusher along with all of the other schools.

Alston isn’t eliminating other schools from getting involved either and said that Tennessee is one that wants him to visit outside of his top six.

Time is on his side for now, too, as Alston wants to take all of his official visits and then sit down with his parents to narrow down his list of options even further.

“What’s important to me is a stable program, great academics, great coaching to help me improve and get better,” he said. “And I’m big on family and building a strong relationship.”
