Tampa (Fla.) Robinson tight end Tamez Young holds an offer from West Virginia.

And the Mountaineers are a school on his list of options.

Young, 6-foot-4, 215-pounds, received the news from tight ends coach Blaine Stewart who informed him at the end of their conversation about the football program.

“My reaction was I was amazed and fired up,” he said.

And since that point Young has gotten to know Stewart well as well as some things about the football program.

"I have a great relationship with Coach Stewart," he said. "They are building something special up there."

The versatile athlete is being targeted as a tight end and the coaches are impressed with his size and length as well as how he can create mismatches in the slot. He also stands out due to his ability to do the dirty work at his position and block from the tight end spot.

Young has made several visits to date to places such as Florida State, Central Florida and South Florida while he was able to come north to check out Rutgers. He is looking into taking an official visit to Morgantown to see it all for himself.

“I want to visit soon,” he said.

There is no rush for when a decision could come but Young is looking for a place where he can see the field early and reach his goals both on and off the field.
