2025 WR Dues grabs first power five offer from West Virginia

Dues now holds an offer from the West Virginia Mountaineers football program.
Dues now holds an offer from the West Virginia Mountaineers football program.

Hurricane (W.Va.) 2025 wide receiver Tyshawn Dues came to the final West Virginia one-day camp of the summer looking to impress. He did more than that.

That’s because the 5-foot-10, 163-pounder, walked away with not only his first power five scholarship offer but one from the in-state Mountaineers.

“To be completely honest I’m really grateful for this offer,” he said.

Dues was one of the standouts of the smaller final camp of July impressing not only with 4.5 speed in the 40-yard dash but during the positional drill work and during the one-on-one portion of the event. Although he felt confident based on his performance, the news was still surprising.

That’s especially true because it is West Virginia and Dues is from the Mountain State.

“I love West Virginia, the game days, the atmosphere and everything about it,” he said.

Wide receivers coach Bilal Marshall was the one that gave Dues the news that the Mountaineers were becoming the first power five program to jump into the mix joining others such as Kent State, Marshall, Akron and Eastern Kentucky in pursuit of the in-state product.

“I found out in his office after camp. It really shows they know I can compete at the top level,” he said.

Marshall has already made a strong impression on Dues, and this was just another chance for him to spend more time getting to know him and working out under his direction. After the camp, he also was able to attend the cookout and spend even more time chatting with the Marshall.

“He’s probably one of my favorite coaches up there because of the bond I built with him,” he said.

Dues isn’t looking to rush into anything with his recruitment but is excited to have the Mountaineers on his list of options to sort through moving forward.

This represents the final camp stop that Dues will make this summer, and he is looking to eventually find a school where he has a strong connection with the position coach.

“That’s really all,” he said.
