Hurricane (W.Va.) 2026 athlete Laron Dues came to the West Virginia camp looking to showcase his improvement on both sides of the ball.

Dues, 5-foot-9, 166-pounds, worked out at both defensive back and wide receiver and received positive feedback from the coaching staff about his performance.

And that came from both secondary coach ShaDon Brown and wide receivers coach Bilal Marshall at the end of the event.

“I got very good feedback from the coaches. They liked my technique and all-around athletic ability,” he said.

It was a different type of experience for Dues as he was coached on both sides of the ball but ultimately he believes that his best fit at the college level is going to be on the defensive side of things.

Dues is the younger brother of 2025 wide receiver commitment Tyshawn Dues and has been around the program a lot over the past few years. So naturally, there is a strong interest in the Mountaineers.

“I stand great with them, and it makes it better because my brother is committed there,” he said.

Dues will next head to Louisville for a camp which is his last currently planned stop of the summer for a one-day event but will look into several other trips including back to West Virginia.

Dues had 20 tackles and 4 interceptions as a sophomore.
