Mentor (Oh.) Lake Catholic 2026 offensive lineman Nathan Zappitelli has been interested in West Virginia for quite some time and things have only continued to build between the two.
Now, the 6-foot-4, 276-pounder has an official visit planned to Morgantown June 13-15.
Zappitelli visited campus last summer under the old coaching staff but has since developed a good bond with offensive line coach Jack Bicknell as well as several other coaches on the staff. In fact, it was Bicknell who extended a scholarship offer to him in late January from the Big 12 Conference program.
That connection between the pair was aided further by a stop on campus for spring practice, he was able to get to know the veteran assistant even better.
“I’d definitely say the relationship has grown. We had the chance to get dinner before the spring practice visit and it was a great time,” he said.
Bicknell isn’t targeting Zappitelli for any specific position and instead likes the fact that he can play multiple spots and is an athletic offensive lineman.
On top of West Virginia, Zappitelli has collected offers from Cincinnati, Pittsburgh and a host of others and outside his stop in Morgantown, has an official visit set to see the Bearcats the weekend prior. He also plans to head to Cincinnati April 18 to get another look at the school prior to that.
As for the Mountaineers, Zappitelli definitely is looking forward to making it back to campus after seeing what a spring practice was like in order to get a better look at the school itself.
Zappitelli is focusing on narrowing down his top options and eventually wants to find a place that has the right culture he is looking for as well as a coaching staff that he trusts will best develop him on and off the field.
“And help me become the best player and person I can be,” he said.
