2026 TE Walsh adds West Virginia offer after strong camp

Olney (Md.) Good Counsel 2026 tight end Rowen Walsh had been on the West Virginia radar for quite some time but took a step further with a scholarship offer after the 7-on-7 passing tournament.

Walsh, 6-foot-5, 240-pounds, added his first power four offer from the Mountaineers following an impressive performance throughout the day where the long tight end was able to showcase his ability to get open.

That led to tight ends coach Blaine Stewart extending the scholarship offer once Good Counsel had won the tournament making the news even sweeter for the rising junior.

“Receiving my first power four offer was the best feeling I’ve ever had. I still truly cannot believe it, but this is what I am working for,” Walsh said. “I know I’m a power four player and want to have a great career at a school of this caliber.”

The feedback from the coaching staff was that they were impressed with his ability to move as well as how he could catch the football and get up field. The West Virginia coaches made it no secret that his combination of size, speed and reliable hands made him an intriguing prospect.

And while it wasn’t the first time seeing him after he performed in the same event last year, this one solidified where he fit into the picture with the Mountaineers after an impressive encore performance.

“That was when I got on Coach Stew’s radar,” he said.

West Virginia is a school that definitely has the attention of Walsh, and he was excited to see more of the program as well as spend time with the coaching staff while competing in the tournament. And he is already planning to return to Morgantown for another visit this fall.

“The coaching staff and how they treated me like I was one of their players really stood out to me,” he said. “That makes me want to come back as soon as I can.”

But with a third consecutive 7-on-7 championship and a scholarship offer in hand it’s safe to say that this most recent trip to Morgantown was one that will be remembered for quite a while.

“The trip was definitely a success,” he said.
