Standout 2018 defensive tackle Tyrese Allen has committed to the West Virginia Mountaineers over Purdue, Memphis, and Cincinnati.

The 6-foot-3, 290-pounder cited his bond with the WVU staff, the campus feel, and playing in the Big-12 as reasons for his commitment to the Mountaineers.

"I love it at WVU, I love idea of playing in Big12, West Virginia football fans are like University of Kentucky basketball fans. I will get the chance to play against Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, TCU, and Texas on national TV," boasted Allen.

"I also love that Morgantown is small. I think I can play early at WVU. I have a great relationship with (WVU defensive line coach) Bruce Tall and (WVU graduate assistant) Michael Burchett. They got on me early and the hardest," expressed the 3-star defensive tackle.

Allen discussed what made the bond between him, his family, and the WVU staff so strong.

"Michael Burchett is from Pittsburg, so we got close because he grew up near here and he's friends with coach Chirico (Joe Chirico is Paintsville's Head Coach). Coach Tall reminds me of (Paintsville offensive coordinator Kinner), he coaches like him, he asks his guys to leave it on the field, my relationship with him (Bruce Tall) is what made my decision, that and the great relationship him and my dad share," claimed Allen.
