In-state native Wyatt Milum started his West Virginia career with plenty of expectations.

But after a prolific college career and being selected by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the third round of the 2025 NFL Draft it’s safe to say that he certainly cleared that bar.

The Spring Valley product was a consensus four-star offensive line prospect that elected to remain in-state to play for the Mountaineers despite a long list of scholarship offers from the nation’s elite.

LSU, Alabama, Notre Dame, Penn State, Florida State, Miami, Tennessee, Michigan, Oregon and many others had offered Milum but in the end staying home and representing his state won out.

It felt like a major commitment at the time and that was proven true in short order.

It didn’t take him long to make an impact as Milum saw the field from game one and became the starter at right tackle only five games into his true freshman season. He would start eight games that season and earn recognition as a freshman all-American by multiple publications.

Milum wouldn’t look back from there. After switching to the left side, Milum started all 12 games as a sophomore and all 12 of the games he played as a junior.

But saved his best for his last season. Milum was named the 14th Consensus All-American in program history and earned Big 12 Offensive Lineman of the Year.

Milum became the fourth offensive lineman to be named a consensus all-American joining a list of elite company that includes Dan Mozes (2006), Mike Compton (1992) and Brian Jozwiak (1985).

Milum did not allow a sack after his freshman season, according to Pro Football Focus and was among the nation’s highest graded linemen during the 2024 campaign.

"It's awesome. I think I said this before, but if I had to go back four years ago, I would never change it. I love being a Mountaineer. I love playing for the in-state, and I love it," Milum said last season.

By the end of his career, Milum had played 2,933 snaps on the offensive line and, outside of injury, started every game once he was elevated into the lineup as a freshman.

Milum will now embark on the next chapter of his journey in Jacksonville but the time spent in Morgantown representing his home state will leave a lasting mark.

“You know, my college career is like a blur. It went extremely fast. I'm extremely grateful to be able to play college football here,” Milum said at the end of his senior season.

A great representation of the football program, Milum certainly made an impact with his play on the field and being from West Virginia made it all the more special.

And speaking for those who have followed the program, we’re grateful, too.
