It’s unusual for Canton (Oh.) McKinley to name a junior as one of its captains. But it’s even more impressive considering linebacker Josh Chandler was in his first year at the school last season.

Chandler, 6-foot, 210-pounds, transferred over from GlenOak after his sophomore year and quickly earned the respect of both his teammates and coaches, according to head coach Dan Reardon.

“It wasn’t like he was in our program three years. He was only part of our program for a couple months and that speaks to his work ethic,” he said.

Reardon has coached several division one linebackers during his time as a head coach in Ohio but perhaps none as cerebral as Chandler on and off the field. While he knew he was inheriting a good player when he made the move to his high school, Reardon quickly found out just how much.
