Class of 2017 Recruiting Exit Interviews: Darius Stills

With much of the class of 2017 set to make their way to Morgantown in May or early June, WVSports.com catches up with the class to perform an exit interview with the recruiting process and get to know each of the prospects a little better on a personal level. Today, we speak with Fairmont (W.Va.) Senior defensive lineman Darius Stills.

Stills, 6-foot-2, 280-pounds, was on the West Virginia radar from the start of the process in large part because he is the son of former pass rushing legend Gary. The local product was a frequent visitor to campus but actually committed to Rutgers first before receiving an offer from West Virginia a few days later and flipping his pledge.

Stills got the offer he always wanted in West Virginia.

What was your favorite part of the recruiting process? Best memory?

DS: Whenever West Virginia offered because I always wanted that offer and I worked four years to get it.

What didn’t you like?

DS: The fact that some coaches really didn’t offer because of my height. I’m not the shortest dude but I’m not pro-type height. Coaches told me that I could play for them and I had talent but I wasn’t tall enough. That was the only thing I didn’t really like.

What was the craziest thing a coach said to you?

DS: Bruce Tall told me that he knew how to get me moving because he saw a video I posted on Twitter of me running around after somebody yelled fire drill.

What shocked you during your recruitment?
