West Virginia added another valuable piece to its 2018 recruiting class when Chicago (Ill.) Marist tight end TJ Ivy selected the Mountaineers Friday afternoon.

Ivy, 6-foot-5, 220-pounds, had narrowed his college choices to West Virginia, Indiana, Illinois and Iowa but elected to commit to the Mountaineers following an unofficial visit over the past couple days.

The Rivals.com three-star prospect had garnered over 20 scholarship offers but chose the Mountaineers in large part because of his relationship with Dan Gerberry as well as the bond he formed with offensive coordinator Jake Spavital.

Spavital stopped in to see Ivy multiple times during the evaluation period and the Mountaineers emerged as one of the top targets at the tight end position due to his overall versatility.
