Cummings and Goings: The WVSports.com: 3-2-1

1—The positive momentum continues. It seems we didn’t have to wait long to answer one of our questions from last week. West Virginia already has another football commitment and it was a name that wasn’t even included in our suggestions in Perry (Oh.) running back Jaylen Anderson. A surprise, but a welcomed one for the Mountaineers as they continue to piece together an impressive 2021 recruiting class with prospects that were considered priorities this cycle.

The Mountaineers are already up to seven commitments in the 2021 class, well ahead of the pace last year which is to be expected given the time that the coaches have been able to invest into recruiting these players over the past two years. Couple that with a string of early visits, many of them multiple stops to Morgantown and it’s a formula that is playing well despite the ongoing dead period.

That could end up being significant when the dust settles as well because these are informed decisions that were made with a clear understanding between the two parties not necessarily some of the rushed judgement you are seeing between some schools and prospects. That could help these commitments stand the test of time once things eventually do open back up.
