West Virginia continued its surge of momentum on the recruiting trail Sunday afternoon by securing a commitment from Baltimore (Md.) St. Frances wide receiver Randy Fields.
Fields, 6-foot-3, 190-pounds, came as somewhat of a surprise given the fact that he had not claimed an offer from the Mountaineers in the past. The talented athlete chose the football program over scholarships from Pittsburgh and Cincinnati.
The Rivals.com three-star prospect announced his decision on social media and was personally recruited by head coach Dana Holgorsen.
"Country roads take me home," he wrote.
Fields becomes the 15th commitment for West Virginia and the fourth wide receiver in the class along with Richmond Hill (Ga.) wide receiver Sam James, Holly Springs (N.C.) wide receiver Bryce Wheaton and Houston (Tx.) North Shore wide receiver Ralph Davis.
WVSports.com will have more with Fields in the immediate future.
