Former North Carolina State safety Kalen McCain thought he needed a fresh start so he contacted an old friend to discuss his options moving forward.

McCain spent two seasons in Raleigh seeing limited playing time on the field before he elected to leave the Wolfpack football program in December. Then he started to think about his future.

“I wasn’t playing so I wanted to give myself a shot,” he said.

The North Carolina native already knew that his one-time high school teammate at Hillside in Alex Woods was enrolled at Scranton (Pa.) Lackawanna College so he decided to see what the school had to offer. It didn’t take him long to decide that he would spent the next season with the Falcons.
