For the first time since Joe Alexander was chosen No. 8 in the 2008 NBA Draft, the West Virginia men’s basketball program stands to have a first-round draft pick.

Miles “Deuce” McBride, a sophomore guard from Cincinnati, announced earlier this month that he was opting to leave his name in the draft, and he has since become a potential lottery pick.

Below, we’ve compiled a list of draft projections for McBride. It will be updated as new mock drafts are created.

The 2021 NBA Draft will take place on July 29.

FOX Sports (Jason McIntyre)

McBride is projected to go No. 21 to the New York Knicks.

"This name keeps coming up as pro-ready. Another former high school QB, and oh yeah, he has a 6-foot-8 wingspan while standing 6-foot-2 and hit 41% on 3-pointers."

CBS Sports (Gary Parrish)

McBride is projected to go No. 29 to the Phoenix Suns.

"If the Suns decide to add backcourt depth, Miles McBride would be a reasonable option. He's a guard who gets after it defensively and shoots it reliably — evidence being that he shot 41.4% from 3-point range last season, and 81.3% from the free-throw line while leading West Virginia to a No. 3 seed in the NCAA Tournament."

Basketball News

McBride is projected to go No. 29 to the Phoenix Suns.

"Mostly known for his defensive prowess and frustrating opposing ball-handlers, there is more to McBride's game than just that. He averaged nearly 16.0 points per game while hitting 41% of his three-point attempts this season, giving promise to real two-way impact at the next level. He is a bit undersized for his position, but he's a hard-nosed competitor who makes winning plays."

The Athletic (Sam Vecenie)

McBride is projected to go No. 24 to the Houston Rockets.

"This would be a pretty big home run draft for the Rockets, to get all of McBride, Green and Jones. McBride would be a tremendous complement to Green in the backcourt because of his defensive intensity and his potential to shoot it both on- and off-ball. This would absolutely be a phenomenal backcourt of the future for the Rockets. McBride’s range starts in the mid-teens and extends into the 20s."

The Athletic (Zach Harper)

McBride is projected to go No. 36 to the Oklahoma City Thunder.

"It’s tough to keep Miles McBride out of the first round, and nobody should be shocked if this emerging offensive point guard sneaks into the top 30."

NY Post Sports (Zach Braziller)

McBride is projected to go No. 19 to the New York Knicks.

"The Knicks need to add two point guards: a veteran and a prospect. McBride fits into the latter category. His defensive intensity, motor and impressive length for a guard will warrant meaningful minutes immediately."

For The Win/USA Today (Bryan Kalbrosky)

McBride is projected to go No. 19 to the New York Knicks.

"The Knicks are still looking for their point guard and pride themselves on their relentless mentality. They would be wise to target Miles McBride, an emerging floor general who I’d consider to be the best defensive guard in this class."
