OL Bausley discusses West Virginia official visit
Jacksonville State offensive lineman Xavier Bausley has been in high demand.
Bausley, 6-foot-5, 315-pounds, collected a number of scholarship offers but narrowed his list down to West Virginia, Pittsburgh and Kentucky.
Each of those schools offered opportunities on the field and were situated close to his home in Dunbar, West Virginia.
Being an in-state native, Bausley had been to Morgantown before, but this was his most extensive visit to campus where he was able to see the entire program in and out.
The experience certainly impressed him.
“My visit was phenomenal,” he said.
The thing that stood out the most to Bausley was getting to spend time with offensive line coach Matt Moore. The assistant had recruited Bausley the first time around so it made sense that when he entered the transfer portal the Mountaineers would get involved.
“He is easily one of the most knowledgeable coaches I have ever interacted with,” he said.
West Virginia is targeting Bausley at right tackle and is coming off a season where he started 12 games for the Gamecocks and played over 900 snaps. His efforts earned him all-freshman honors in Conference USA and made him an attractive option for schools once he entered the transfer portal.
Outside of his three finalists, Bausley also received scholarship offers from Texas A&M, Mississippi State, South Carolina, Arizona State, UCF and California, among others.
Bausley now plans to visit Kentucky after stopping at Pittsburgh prior to his trip to Morgantown. A decision is then expected to come between those three once that trip to Lexington is wrapped up.
He will have three years remaining in his career.
