West Virginia picked up a major commitment Sunday from a Rivals250 prospect when Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas wide receiver Mike Harley selected the program at the tail end of his visit.

Harley, 5-foot-10, 153-pounds, made his first visit to West Virginia over the weekend and decided he had seen enough choosing the Mountaineers over a host of offers including Michigan, Miami (Fla.), Louisville, Kentucky, Wisconsin, South Carolina and Maryland, among others.

The Florida prospect arrived at West Virginia Friday, staying through Sunday morning and was impressed with the total package of what he saw during his time in Morgantown.

The Rivals.com four-star prospect was recruited by running backs coach JaJuan Seider and West Virginia has been a major factor for Harley since first offering him a scholarship. Seider has particularly played a pivotal role building a strong bond with him over the past couple weeks.

“I like the coaching staff and it’s an offensive system I can fit in,” Harley said. “They say that I can get on the field and play early. It’s a great fit.”

Rated as the nation’s No. 222 prospect, Harley has the ability to play inside or outside in the West Virginia spread scheme and is a dynamic athlete that excels in space. His speed and acceleration are what set him apart at the next level as he has no problem running a variety of routes.

He was impressed with the plan laid out by both Seider and wide receivers coach Tyron Carrier as well.

“They’re always telling me what position I’d be playing and what the game plan would be if I’d come up there,” Harley said. “I feel comfortable with it.”

Harley is the seventh commitment for West Virginia in the class of 2017 and the first at the wide receiver position. He is the second prospect to pledge to the Mountaineers from Florida.
