Rivers Commits To WVU

The Mountaineer coaching staff has received a verbal commitment from highly regarded Pennsylvania defensive back Vaughn Rivers. The 5-9 165 pound athlete had attended the West Virginia summer camp and has been leaning to the Mountaineers since that time.
Rivers, who is fully qualified academically, chose the Mountaineers after receivinginterest from Virginia Tech, Penn State, and Pittsburgh.

Last season Rivers caught 15 passes for 240 yards and three touchdowns on offense and intercepted 10 passes from his cornerback position. He also scoredtouchdownsby returning a punt, kickoff, and a fumble for scores. This season Vaughn's Perry Traditional team has jumped out to a 2-0 record and is currently rankedNo. 4 in the state among Class AAA teams. On the season Rivers has scored on a 85-yard touchdown reception in the first game and a39-yard touchdown reception and 41-yard punt return in the second game.
