Troy transfer DL Jackson commits to West Virginia

West Virginia has landed a commitment from the transfer portal in Troy defensive lineman TJ Jackson following an official visit to Morgantown.

Jackson, 6-foot-2, 280-pounds, entered the transfer portal Dec. 28 and the Mountaineers wasted little time jumping into the mix offering a scholarship mere hours later.

The defensive lineman spent three seasons with the Trojans where he appeared in 36 games and racked up 94 tackles, 22.5 tackles for loss and 11.5 sacks during that time.

This past season Jackson had 27 tackles, 7 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks but is coming off an 8-sack season in 2022.

Jackson played over 1,000 snaps during his three-year career.

The Mountaineers were able to act quickly in the pursuit of the versatile defensive lineman which led to an official visit Jan. 4-5 to Morgantown. That proved to ultimately be the difference maker.

"I'm staying in West Virginia," he said.

Along with West Virginia, Jackson also received scholarship offers from Oklahoma State, Texas A&M, Houston and Jacksonville State along with several others.

Jackson has the size to play all three downs and is an athletic pass rusher that understands how to play the game and be effective in a variety of ways upfront.

The Alabama native will have one season left in his career.

WVSports.com will have more with Jackson in the near future.
