West Virginia has landed a commitment from Maine transfer linebacker Deshawn Stevens.

Stevens, 6-foot-2, 255-pounds, announced his commitment on Instagram giving the Mountaineers a versatile linebacker that has plenty of experience at the college level.

The redshirt junior appeared in 29 games during his time with the Black Bears and racked up 211 tackles and 11.5 sacks.

Stevens best season came in 2018 when he racked up 120 tackles, 9.0 sacks and 17.0 tackles for loss while earning second team all-CAA honors.

He was also selected sixth overall in the CFL Draft by The Ottawa REDBLACKS but has opted to instead spend at least this coming season in Morgantown.

The Mountaineers needed to find more help at the linebacker position heading into the 2021 campaign and Stevens should be able to provide that.

A native of Toronto, Stevens could have two seasons of eligibility remaining considering he missed all but one game in 2019 and last season didn't count toward his eligibility.

WVSports.com will have more with Stevens in the near future.
