WVU adds Konate
West Virginia added a major commitment in the class of 2016 when Hermitage (Pa.) Kennedy Catholic forward Sagaba Konate selected the Mountaineers.
Konate, 6-foot-8, 220-pounds, is fresh off an official visit to West Virginia over the weekend where the talented front court option said he left impressed with Morgantown and what the Mountaineers had to offer.

Konate confirmed the pledge to WVSports.com becoming the third overall commitment for West Virginia in the class of 2016 and the first big man in the cycle.
The Rivals.com three-star prospect had emerged as one of the top options on the board for West Virginia and provides the Mountaineers with a strong option on the low block with quick feet.
Known for his rebounding and shot blocking ability, Konate has only been playing the game of basketball since 2011 but has developed quickly and is a high upside addition for the Mountaineers.
Averaging a double-double a season ago, the Mali native quickly moved West Virginia up his list of options after first visiting during the summer where he got a complete look at the campus as well as forming a bond with the coaching staff.
"I like West Virginia. I think West Virginia is a good school. They have a good education and they are a good basketball program," he previously informed WVSports.com.
Konate also had offers from Pittsburgh, Purdue, Wichita State, George Mason, Rutgers, Dayton and Toledo. The West Virginia coaching staff made multiple visits to see the big man during the evaluation periods.
Konate, originally a soccer player, joins Wheeling Central (W.Va.) guard Chase Harler and Southern Charleston (W.Va.) point guard Brandon Knapper in the class of 2016, although Knapper could reclassify to the class of 2017.
