Jensen Beach (Fla.) linebacker Xavier Preston announced his decision via twitter simply saying "Committed to West Virginia #MountaineerNation." WVSports.com was able to confirm the decision.
The 6-foot-2, 219-pound linebacker visited West Virginia for the Mountaineers matchup against Georgia State and was impressed with the campus and what he saw out of the coaching staff claiming WVU as his leader after the trip had concluded. Running backs coach JaJuan Seider served as the lead recruiter for Preston.
"It was very nice. I felt very at home and it was a nice campus," he said. "I really enjoyed myself up there. They are still very high under consideration. I'm not going to rush anything but I really like West Virginia. You can say they're the leader."
Preston is set to begin his career at the STAR outside linebacker position, giving him the flexibility to rush the passer and drop back into coverage, something that intrigued him during his visit in mid-
September.
A Rivals.com three-star prospect, Preston selected West Virginia over offers from Louisville, Rutgers, N.C. State, Indiana, Wake Forest, among others.
WVSports.com will have more on this breaking news including a full interview from Preston.
