WVU adds OL/DL

Coming into this weekend's visit to West Virginia, Miramar (Fla.) lineman Yodny Cajuste was yet to receive a full scholarship offer from the Mountaineers. Now, the 6-foot-6, 265-pound athletic tackle prospect will have a new home for the next couple years after committing to the coaching staff following his official visit Sunday.

"The wait is over I have officially commited to West Virginia University $WVG #Mountaineers," he wrote on twitter.

Cajuste selected West Virginia over offers from Florida, Oklahoma State, Syracuse, Memphis, Florida International, Florida Atlantic, Temple, Western Kentucky, Western Michigan, Eastern Michigan and Samford as well as interest from several other schools. The two-way prospect had picked up steam on the recruiting trail down the stretch with many schools getting involved and attempting to secure late visits.

The senior visited Florida last weekend but admitted that this weekend's trip to West Virginia would set the tone in his recruitment after his former head coach Damon Cogdell left Miramar to become a defensive assistant on the Mountaineers coaching staff.

Once that happened, Cogdell was able to secure an official visit with his former pupil and then secure his commitment during the weekend trip.

Coming into the visit West Virginia had offered Cajuste a greyshirt, which would allow him to enroll next January, but the plan was to sit down and discuss the possibilities with the coaching staff this weekend especially in light of what had happened with former commitment Josh Krok.

Cajuste becomes the next in a line of prospects from Miramar to join the West Virginia program following in the footsteps of Geno Smith, Stedman Bailey, Ivan McCartney, Josh Taylor and Devonte Mathis, among others.

"I know quite a bit about West Virginia. I know that they have produced a whole lot of Miramar talent," he said prior to the visit.

Cajuste is being recruited as an offensive tackle by many programs but West Virginia also has spoken with him about playing on the defensive line, something he is very interested in doing. An athletic big man with only one year of playing experience, Cajuste is a former basketball player that oozes with potential at the next level.

The commitment gives West Virginia 20 pledges in the class of 2014 with signing day almost a week away.
