WVU adds Sandwisch

West Virginia picked up another major part to its 2016 recruiting class when Toledo (Oh.) Central Catholic linebacker Zach Sandwisch announced his commitment to the Mountaineers.
Sandwisch, 6-foot-2, 220-pounds, had listed West Virginia as the favorite in his recruitment since his first junior day visit in late January and that lead only widened after a weekend stop in Morgantown where he spent several days taking in the program.

While he took in the second junior day Sunday, Sandwisch also stayed overnight and went through a tour of the facilities with his family as well as talking with the coaches.
"They want me to be a part of it and feel at home. West Virginia gives me that feeling where you aren't home but you know you still are," he said following the trip.
The talented linebacker had been a priority of the West Virginia coaching staff and had received other offers from Illinois, Iowa, Indiana and several MAC programs. The senior announced his decision over social media simply saying, "Just committed to WVU! #BLESSED #LetsGoMountaineers"
He confirmed the decision with WVSports.com.
Aside from the programs that had offered Sandwisch also received heavy interest from several other schools including Michigan State.
Rated as a three-star prospect by Rivals.com, Sandwisch has the ability to play any of the linebacker spots at West Virginia and will likely begin his career at either SAM or WILL.
Offensive line coach Ron Crook served as the lead recruiter for Sandwisch and he becomes the seventh overall commitment for the Mountaineers in the class of 2016. That relationship he forged with the coaching staff proved to be a difference maker.
"I just love the coaching staff. They are there to help you get better. To become a better student and a better man," he previously said.
WVSports.com will have more with Sandwisch including a full interview on his choice.
