WVU Baseball Ranked No. 13 in Final Polls of 2024

After a historic end to the 2024 season, West Virginia baseball was ranked No. 13 by both Baseball America and D1Baseball to end the season.

The Mountaineers finished with a 36-24 record, as well as winning the Tucson Regional, before falling to North Carolina in the Chapel Hill Super Regional.

West Virginia jumped to No. 13 by both outlets after not being ranked heading into the postseason.

WVU was ranked the highest among all Big 12 schools this past season. D1Baseball had Kansas State at No. 14, Oklahoma at No. 18, and Oklahoma State at No. 21. They had North Carolina ranked No. 5 to finish the season.

Baseball America had Oklahoma State at No. 18, Oklahoma at No. 19, and Kansas State at No. 22. UNC was ranked at No. 4 to end the season.

WVU will now turn a page in their program as they turn things over to Steve Sabins. Longtime head coach Randy Mazey announced last summer that the 2024 season would be his last.

WVU is now in offseason mode, and like many programs are waiting until the MLB Draft next month before they can make a majority of their decisions regarding roster management.

WVU will definitely lose shortstop JJ Wetherholt to the draft, but there are plenty of other contributors from this past year's team that could be on the move to the next level as well.
