West Virginia has made the cut for Bolivar (Tn.) Central quarterback Trey Lowe and a college decision is expected sometime next month.

Lowe, 6-foot-4, 200-pounds, has cut his list of college choices down to West Virginia, North Carolina, Illinois, Houston, Memphis, Arkansas State and Southern Mississippi with a college decision expected to come at some point in the month of July although an exact date has yet to be set.

The Rivals.com three-star prospect has visited all of his finalists outside of Houston and just recently took a trip to Morgantown in early June.

West Virginia first offered Lowe during the evaluation period when offensive coordinator Jake Spavital made the trip to Tennessee in order to watch him throw. After that session the Mountaineers jumped into the picture with a scholarship offer and West Virginia has seen one of the top options on the board since.

Lowe has developed a strong bond with Spavital during that timeframe and is interested in the Mountaineers offensive scheme and how he could fit into it. The visit to Morgantown was even better than the signal caller expected.

“I met with all the coaches and the strength and conditioning coach and saw what they do. I got to see what a full day was like and it was better than I expected,” he said.

Rated as the No. 17 dual-threat quarterback in the nation, last season Lowe completed 61 percent of his passes for 1,256 yards and 14 touchdowns with only four interceptions.

WVSports.com will continue to update the recruitment of Lowe.
