West Orange (N.J.) Seton Hall Prep 2027 quarterback Kahden Davis didn’t expect to receive an offer from West Virginia but the recruiting process has a way of surprising.

And that’s exactly what unfolded here.

“I wasn’t expecting it. The coaches talked about how they liked me and wanted to continue to build a relationship with me and how I would be a great fit for their program,” he said.

Davis, 6-foot-0, 190-pounds, earned the scholarship offer from the Mountaineers following a strong camp performance at the third one-day event in June.

“They loved my anticipation on passes and tight spiral on my balls and loved how my passes cut through the wind on all levels,” he said.

Quarterbacks coach Tyler Allen was the primary contact for Davis and he was able to work firsthand with him during the course of the camp. And the message from the staff was that he is a special player who is able to keep his eyes downfield even when he is scrambling out of the pocket.

“I talked a lot with Coach Allen during and after the camp and Coach Brown actually pulled me out of one of the drills to talk to me,” he said.

Davis felt that overall the coaching staff was very welcoming and energetic and it made him feel at home during his time in Morgantown. He also has a connection considering analyst Tre Bell actually played high school football under his current head coach.

Davis has a few more stops set in the coming weeks and months but plans to place his focus solely on his upcoming high school season. He does plan to return to West Virginia for another look down the road as he continues to build a relationship.

“WVU made a strong impression on me,” he said.
