Belleville (Mi.) 2027 quarterback Kendall Franklin was excited to showcase his skill set in front of the West Virginia coaching staff at the first one-day camp of the summer.
And he didn’t disappoint.
Franklin, 6-foot-1, 200-pounds, was able to have good conversations with a number of coaches on the staff throughout the course of the event and after including quarterbacks coach Rhett Rodriguez and assistant quarterbacks coach Pat White.
And each gave him positive feedback on his performance at the event.
“They liked my footwork, decision-making and they also mentioned my arm strength and how comfortable I am,” he said. “They thought I did a really good at the camp and I spun the ball really well.”
The coaches made it clear that they plan to keep evaluating Franklin throughout the summer and stay in touch with him moving forward as things continue to progress.
Overall, Franklin liked the feel of the camp and how the coaches led the players through drills.
“It was intense but encouraging. They’re all about development and pushing guys to reach their full potential,” he said.
That intensity was present in everything, and Franklin enjoyed the energy around the program from the coaching staff to the players. There was a clear display of passion and commitment to winning.
“Everyone seemed locked in,” he said.
The underclassman signal caller also was impressed with the facilities around the program and how they could help him both grow and compete at the highest level.
Franklin definitely could see himself returning to Morgantown for another visit but for now he is working on building the relationship between him and the coaches.
As far as other camp stops Franklin will head to Notre Dame June 6, Purdue June 8, Alabama June 14, a pair of 7-on-7 events at Michigan and Michigan State and finally Toledo June 20 to wrap up his summer circuit.
