With much of the class of 2017 set to make their way to Morgantown in May or early June, WVSports.com catches up with the class to perform an exit interview with the recruiting process and get to know each of the prospects a little better on a personal level. Today, we speak with El Dorado (Kan.) Butler C.C. quarterback David Isreal.

Isreal, 6-foot-2, 190-pounds, was a post-signing day addition for West Virginia as the Mountaineers didn't bring the junior college quarterback in for a visit until the week of the annual Gold-Blue Game. During that official visit Isreal saw enough to end his recruitment and commit to the Mountaineers over Memphis and will have four years to play three when he arrives in Morgantown over the summer.

Gameday ritual?

DI: I have to eat a Snickers before a game. It started in high school with my mom because she always gave my little brother a Snickers to run to me in pre-game before we came out of the tunnel. It’s always been my tradition and when she’s not at the game she always makes sure I have a Snickers before the game.

What number will you wear?

DI: No. 8. My high school number was No. 2 but Ka’Raun (White) has that this year so when he leaves I’ll probably get that.

Goals for your first season?

DI: To learn the playbook and get comfortable in my surroundings because it will be a different type of environment than what I’m used to in Kansas. And seeing the field and playing a lot. They want me to come in hungry and compete but the redshirt is an option. It’s not a bad thing I’m open to redshirting but I’m going to come in for the mentality to compete.
