JUCO OL Wickline flips to WVU

West Virginia pulled off a big late flip on the recruiting trail by securing the commitment of Ellisville (Miss.) Jones J.C. offensive tackle Kelby Wickline.

Wickline, 6-foot-5, 275-pounds, initially committed to North Carolina but took a late visit to West Virginia over the weekend and elected to flip his pledge. The junior college offensive tackle actually enrolled at West Virginia last spring but left the program in order to further develop.

"My new home," Wickline tweeted.

The son of current West Virginia offensive coordinator Joe Wickline, the younger Wickline received an offer from the Mountaineers in September. The Mountaineers were in need of junior college prospects to fill the class and Wickline fits an immediate hole at either offensive tackle or guard.

That move paid off as Wickline received offers from a long list of programs including TCU, Arkansas, Oklahoma State, Kentucky, Missouri and a number of others. He also earned first team MACJC South honors for his play along the offensive line for Jones J.C.

In addition to West Virginia, Wickline also took official visits to Missouri, Arkansas and North Carolina.

The junior college prospect is set to enroll in January and will have three years to play three in Morgantown after already using his redshirt year at Texas San Antonio.

Overall, Wickline is the 17th commitment for West Virginia in the current recruiting class and is the second offensive lineman behind Buford (Ga.) offensive tackle Tyler Thurmond.

WVSports.com will have more with Wickline in the near future.
