Long, 5-foot-11, 209-pounds, selected West Virginia over offers from Illinois, Kentucky, Louisville, Missouri, Cincinnati and several others. The Rivals.com three-star prospect had long been leaning to West Virginia but selected the Mountaineers in large part because of his relationship with the coaching staff and how he will be used in the defense.
While listed as a linebacker, Long has the ability to play the SPUR position in the West Virginia defense and was recruited by offensive coordinator Shannon Dawson.
Long announced his commitment over social media.
"I will be officially committing to West Virginia University!! #WVU #DubV #Mountaineernation," he wrote.
The linebacker visited West Virginia on multiple occassions including most recently for the Oklahoma game two weekends ago.
WVSports.com will have more on this commitment.
