And they certainly did for West Virginia in the case of running back Kay-Jay Harris.

Assistant Calvin Magee had built a bond with Harris from the time he was in seventh grade. He also coached him throughout high school so there was already a strong connection before he elected to offer a scholarship to Harris at the college level.

But it took some time, and a different sport altogether, to get to that point.
