The Florida Gators received the final official visit and there has been a lot of buzz around the school at the Swamp the last few days. Dan Mullen and his staff hoped if they did not sign Sam Brown Wednesday, they were at least hoping he would hold off until February to give them more time.

That did not happen, and Brown, a former UCF commit in Savannah (Ga.) New Hamstead is a West Virginia Mountaineer.

The first weekend in December, Brown tripped up to Morgantown and he hit it off with coaches, players from his hometown and he quickly knew that was going to be his home.

"I told the West Virginia coaches about my day a day or two after I got back from my official visit," said Brown. "Coach Dye and coach Trickett came down first, then coach Brown came down and I knew it was going to be West Virginia.

"I have always gotten along with the coaches there, I am close with Winston Wright and Sam Sneed, I like their offense and I know I will have a chance to play early there.

"Florida gave me a lot think about and I had a good time there, but I am going to West Virginia."

Brown is a receiver on the rise. Once his senior film got out, he picked up offers from the likes of Florida, Georgia and Ole Miss. He has a nice blend of size, speed and athleticism with some real upside.

He can't wait to get up there and make plays as a Mountaineer.

"The coaches are so genuine at West Virginia and I am excited about playing for them," said Brown. "I have known coach Trickett since he was at Georgia State and all the coaches are great guys.

"Coach Brown is laid back and cool, but when it is time to work, he gets after it.

"I just can't wait to be a part of what they are doing at West Virginia. I have always had that school in the back of the mind, but now it is in front. That is where I am going.

"I am going to work hard, get on the field early and help the team build things back up."
