Matt McCormick, who was third on the West Virginia baseball team in home runs a season ago, has entered the transfer portal.

The roster movement was confirmed by a source within the WVU athletic department on Tuesday. Tyler Doanes, the team’s starting second baseman, is also in the portal.

Last season, McCormick played in 51 games at a variety of positions. He hit .280 with seven home runs and 30 RBIs.

A native of Orland Park, Illinois, McCormick was drafted by the Cincinnati Reds in the 40th round of the 2019 MLB Draft. He was ranked as the No. 94 player in the country by Perfect Game in the class of 2019.
