West Virginia was still in the market for a pass catcher in the current recruiting class and Lorton (Va.) South County wide receiver Dillon Spalding has filled that need by committing to the Mountaineers.

Spalding, 6-foot-2, 210-pounds, had collected a number of scholarship offers but narrowed his choices down to a top two of West Virginia and Michigan. Ultimately, the Mountaineers would win the battle as Spalding formed a strong bond with running backs coach Tony Dews as well as the rest of the coaches.

At his size, Spalding could fill several different spots for West Virginia at wide receiver and could prove to be a dynamic weapon in the red zone with his combination of hands and route running.

Spalding initially visited West Virginia over the summer and that trip helped cement the program in his top group along with others such as Tennessee, Virginia Tech and East Carolina. Michigan got involved later in the process with an offer and he would take a visit to check out the Wolverines program.

The Rivals.com three-star prospect returned to Morgantown for a visit for the Texas Tech game and he was highly impressed with both the atmosphere on campus as well as the offensive system.
