The West Virginia football program has filled a spot on the offensive line from the transfer market with former Jacksonville State lineman Xavier Bausley.

Bausley, 6-foot-5, 315-pounds, started 12 games for the Gamecocks this past season and played over 900 snaps while earning all-Conference USA Freshman honors in the process.

The versatile lineman is a familiar name considering that he is an in-state native who played his high school football at South Charleston.

Bausley made several visits to campus as a recruit, but the Mountaineers did not extend a scholarship offer. The second time around proved to be the charm.

Bausley played right tackle for Jacksonville State but has the flexibility to move to different spots.

He redshirted during his first season on campus and played just 13 snaps before he took on a much larger role this past season. Bausley entered the transfer portal on Dec. 20 and narrowed his list of options down to West Virginia, Kentucky and Pittsburgh.

Bausley took an official visit to West Virginia during the mid-term transfer visit window which sealed the deal and kept the in-state product within the Mountain State.

Bausley also received scholarship offers from Texas A&M, Mississippi State, South Carolina, Arizona State, UCF and California, among others.

The Mountaineers wanted to find one more young offensive tackle body type in this class and Bausley now fills that need with three years of eligibility remaining in his career.

WVSports.com will have more with Bausley in the near future.
