JUCO DE Rose commits to WVU

West Virginia had been looking for help on the defensive line and added that with a commitment from Scooba (Miss.) East Mississippi C.C. defensive end Ezekiel Rose.

Rose, 6-foot-3, 250-pounds, was a surprise addition to the West Virginia official visitor list over the weekend and while the Mountaineers had been in touch throughout had yet to offer him a scholarship.

That all changed Friday afternoon during his visit when the Mountaineers jumped into the picture by offering the versatile defensive lineman a scholarship.

“Blessed to receive an offer from West Virginia University,” he said.

And during the visit, Rose saw enough to end his recruitment by committing to the Mountaineers.

"I have decided to commit to WVU," he said.

Prior to the visit, Rose received offers from Memphis, Louisiana-Lafayette, Marshall, Southern Mississippi and South Alabama as well as interest from others.

A native of Clarksdale, Mississippi, Rose is coming off a season where he finished with 35 tackles and 6.5 sacks. A December graduate, Rose will enroll at West Virginia in January to start his college career and will have three years to play two at the next level.

Rose took previous official visits to Mississippi State and Louisiana-Lafayette.

Overall, Rose is the third defensive line commitment for West Virginia joining Senatobia (Miss.) Northwest Mississippi C.C. nose tackle Jalen Harvey and Fairmont (W.Va.) defensive lineman Darius Stills. The junior college pass rusher is the 16th overall commitment for the Mountaineers.

WVSports.com will have more with Rose in the near future.
